Alleged dumping caught on camera

Pictures of a local company allegedly dumping illegally have gone viral, but the manager of the company said they were donating, not dumping.

A LOCAL resident caught what he believes to be illegal dumping on camera earlier today when he spotted a heavy goods vehicle offloading goods in Malacca Road, Glen Hills.

Adrian Legg wrote on the popular Facebook page, Durban North Neighbours: “Let’s share this and let it go Viral, maybe people will think twice before dumping, knowing that Durban North Neighbours are sharp!”

But the branch manager for the company (MDS Collivery) that Legg accused of dumping, Ryan Jennings, said his driver was not dumping, but donating goods to the residents of the informal settlement before heading off to a municipal dump in Springfield Park.

“Our driver was on route to the Malacca Road municipal dump, but was turned away because the truck weighs three tons. I told him to offer some of the equipment, office goods and furniture to residents of the informal settlement before he goes to the municipal dump in Springfield Park. We were trying to do good, not dump,” Jennings added.

He also said that MDS Colllivery often donates goods to the settlement before dumping it at a municipal dump.
