Thief caught red-handed in Glen Hills

Security response officers caught a man that was in possession of stolen property late on Monday night.

A MAN who told security officers that he was handed a functioning flat screen television and tools by a thief in Glen Hills has been nabbed. What’s more the suspect told the officers that he stumbled across the items lying on the side of a busy road.

According to Marshall Security, the man was spotted by one of their response officers while patrolling Rinaldo Road in Glen Hills at about 9.30pm last night.

The security officer said he noticed the man “behaving suspiciously” and decided to investigate. “When he approached the suspect he fled across North Coast Road where he was stopped by our response officer. The bags where found to be concealing a flat screen TV and tools,” the security company reported on its Facebook page.

They said that the man, who had been caught red-handed, gave various explanations of how he came to be in possession of the TV. He told the officer he found it lying in the road and said it was stolen, but not by him. He said it had been given to him by an associate who stole it.
The suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS and charged for possession of stolen property.

“If you have lost your TV in a housebreaking in the Glen Hills or Glen Anil area in the last day or two email us with the description, make and model: John@marshallsecurity.co.za,” the post added.
