School girl knocked over by car

An eight-year-old school girl was knocked over by a car on Chris Hani Road earlier today.

AN eight-year-old school girl was knocked over by a car in Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) at about 2pm today.

Crisis Medical’s Neil Powell said the girl, from Columbia Primary School, ran across Chris Hani Road when a car knocked her over. It is believed the girl crossed the road illegally.

“She sustained a minor cut to the face and a minor concussion, but is stable,” Powell added.

In May a school boy from Greenwood Park Primary School was critically injured in a pedestrian accident when he was hit by a car in the Greenwood Park area.

“Reports from the scene indicated that the child was walking on the pavement when a vehicle collided into him,” said Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha.

“The accident happened close to Effingham Heights Primary School at the top of Effingham Road at about 7.45am on Tuesday, 13 May,” said Greenwood Park Primary School principal, Ian Africa.

It is believed the boy was walking to school with an older pupil, who is in Grade 5. Africa said the Grade 5 pupil told them he had crossed the road when all was clear, but turned around when he heard a loud smash to find the Grade 2 pupil knocked over by a car.
