Children held up by gun wielding thugs

Two boys were held up by three men who stole their pocket money, school bags and lunches.

TWO children playing along Hippo Road in the Riverhorse Valley Estate were last week not only robbed of their pocket money (R30), but also of their school bags and lunches.

That’s according to Greenwood Park SAPS who said that the boys were lucky that the robbery was witnessed by a passing motorist, Thulani Malembe.

But even though Malembe saw what had happened, police were unable to arrest the three men who fled shortly after the armed robbery.

The incident, according to police, occurred on Saturday, 17 May.  Greenwood Park SAPS said one of their officers responded to the call that was witnessed by Malembe.

Malembe said he was driving along Hippo Road when he saw the three robbers hold up the boys.

“Malembe turned around to help the boys, who told him the men stole their pocket money, school bags and lunches. It was reported that the robbers then fled into nearby bushes,” said Lt Elvis Naidoo, spokesman for the station.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.
