Puppies saved from death’s door find loving home

Puppies find a new lease on life in new home.

IT is often said that happy endings only happen in the movies, but two lucky puppies, who were saved from certain death, would disagree.
More than a month ago, a litter of six puppies that were covered in fleas and ticks were rescued by Durban North resident and Phoenix Animal Care Treatment (PACT) volunteer, David Hanson.

They were found underweight, malnourished, and huddled together, shivering, in a drain in the back yard. Northglen News is happy to report that all of the puppies have found loving homes.

One of the couples who adopted two of the litter, said they could not help but be moved by the pup’s ‘precious faces’.

Edgeley Road residents Travis Simon and Kerry Muddiman said they had discussed getting a dog but never thought it would be this soon.

“We had always said we wanted pets. Travis is a cat lover and I love dogs. When I saw the article in the paper, I showed it to Travis, expecting him to say no, but he was dead keen on adopting the two pups in the photo, Max and Elsa,” Kerry explained.

“When we arrived to see the puppies, Elsa came to me and Max went to Travis. It was an awesome moment.”

Both Max and Elsa have developed very distinctive personalities but their adventurous spirit remains despite their tough beginnings.

“We couldn’t believe what they went through. As animal lovers the story just resonated with us. Our lives have now completely transformed since their arrival and seamlessly revolve around them. When we come home, we are just showered with love,” Travis enthused.
