Spate of hijackings continues in north Durban areas

Greenwood Park SAPS has reported that three people fell victim to armed robbers in the last week.

A SPATE of hijackings have rocked the Greenwood Park area recently. In one of the incidents a motorist in Effingham was made to lie on the floor. The hijackers demanded that the motorist hand over his car keys, wallet and cellphone.
According to Lt Elvis Naidoo, spokesman for Greenwood Park SAPS, the terrified man got out his car and noticed an armed man working over to him.
“The car was later recovered in KwaMashu,” Lt Naidoo said.Another victim was about to close shop for the day at a Briardene trailer hire business when he saw two men looking at one of the trailers.
“The man took the key from the trailer and turned around to walk away when the two men pointed a firearm at the back of his head and demanded his car keys. The hijackers then drove off with his car,” Lt Naidoo said. No arrests have been made in any of the incidents.
