Elusive security dog evades capture, twice

Local security company needs Mt Edgecombe residents' help to track down elusive canine.

A SECURITY dog that has evaded capture for almost three weeks has residents and its owners in a tizz. The dog, a German Shepherd cross Husky managed to free itself from the choke chain while patrolling with its keeper on the massive Mt Edgecombe Country Club Estate.

Clint O’Reilly from Couver Security, said the dog named Husky ran into bushes bordering the estate. Two attempts to capture Husky have failed. “He’s been spotted between Gates 4 and 5 and we’ve tried everything to get him back. With everybody chasing him he’s become very skittish. He feels like he’s being chased by people so he’s become very elusive.

“One of the Mt Edgecombe residents has been feeding him. Husky normally comes to eat every second night. We need the residents help on tracking him down,” he said.

A Mt Edgecombe resident, who did not want to be named, said she noticed the dog passing by her property on three occasions. “Realising this was not the norm, I enquired as to where the dog comes from and then heard about Husky.

I started putting food out for the dog which had now been roaming for one week with no food, he was very weak and ate the bowl of food for three days running. After consulting with the different parties involved; Mt. Edgecombe, Enforce and the dog security company (Couver) and the SPCA, suggesting some plans of action to capture Husky, seeing though I was feeding him and it would make it easier.

“Unfortunately two attempts were made and were botched. Husky has now moved on to another area but no one knows where. I am asking all residents on Estate 1 and 2 to please keep an eye out for him and if seen to please put some food out,” the concerned animal lover said.

O’Reilly urged residents who spot Husky to contact him 083 792 2894
