No rest for Durban North officers

Durban North SAPS made 19 major arrests in less than a week.

DURBAN North Police Station’s officers have been hard at work, bagging 19 major arrests last week.

On Saturday 31 August an Enforce security guard saw three men walking down Lighthouse Road carrying garden chairs.

He inquired about the chairs and found that the chairs were stolen. He detained them and took them to Durban North SAPS.

According to the station’s spokesman, Lt Raymond Deokaran, it was found that the chairs were stolen from an apartment in Lagoon Drive. He urged residents to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.

Four people were also arrested for drunk driving on the same day at the intersection of the M4 and uMhlanga Rocks Drive.

On the same day, police also arrested two men, in separate incidents, who were found to have dagga in their possession.

Another man was arrested by Durban North officers after assaulting his girlfriend.

Deokaran said the man had asked his girlfriend about an incident that happened a few days prior to the assault.

A fight ensued and the man then assaulted his girlfriend.

In a second incident, another man was arrested for the assault of his girlfriend.

Deokaran said the couple had a fight about the man’s dog’s beds. It is believed he then took one of the dogs’ leashes and hit his girlfriend with it.

A man’s joyride was cut short when he was arrested for driving on the beach, while another man was arrested for contravening the Fishing Act.

Deokaran also said four people were arrested for shoplifting, while a man was arrested for contravening the Telkom Act (making derogatory calls and sending derogatory messages). Deokaran said the man threatened someone who had done work for him.

A man was arrested for pointing a firearm at someone. Deokaran said the man, who was having an affair with a married woman, pulled a gun on her husband.
