Man falls off roof in uMhlanga, dies

The man was declared dead at the scene despite paramedics' best attempts to save him.

A STAFF member at an air conditioning company fell to his death yesterday afternoon while working at a premises in uMhlanga.

Marshall Security Dispatch Centre was alerted at about 14:00 in a panic to report the incident.

“The worker had fallen from the roof of the premises. The caller emphasised the urgency of the situation, requesting immediate medical assistance as the worker appeared to be critically injured,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Netcare911 was called for medical support while the Marshall Security Special Operations Team and Community Support went out to the scene to provide assistance.

Netcare911 paramedics arrived promptly, but the worker had sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

“Despite their best efforts to stabilise the patient, the worker tragically succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene,” said Powell.

Greenwood Park SAPS arrived on scene to conduct a full investigation and handle the necessary procedures.

“This heartbreaking incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of workplace safety, ” added Powell.
