Exhibition showcases artistic talent at Virginia Prep
The school hall, which was transformed into a viewing gallery, also displayed artwork from several invited schools on the north coast.
THIS year’s North Durban Art Exhibition was a resounding success thanks to the support from the community.
The event has been hosted by Virginia Preparatory School for more than 30 years.
The school hall, which was transformed into a viewing gallery, also displayed artwork from several invited schools on the north coast.
The event was free to view, and the general public had a chance to view the artwork that was created under the theme of ‘Bold and Beautiful’.
Andrea Watson, head of visual arts at Virginia, praised this year’s entries.
“Not only is it a proud moment for our school but it also gives our learners an opportunity to showcase their artistic talent. This event has been going strong for more than 30 years, and at this year’s exhibition, we had between 20 and 30 schools exhibiting. There was artwork from preschool all the way up to Grade Seven. We’ve had a wonderful response, not just from parents but also the wider North Durban community. We are very proud of how the exhibition played out,” she said.
