Be a part of Fairways’ fast-forward fashion fair

Two friends passionate about reducing their carbon footprint are hosting the thrift fashion fair, Never New, in Fairways which has been a hit in the past.

THE phrase ‘fast-forward fashion’ refers to low-priced clothing items that generally move quickly in a retail store space. Two Durban North women have brought the concept to a fair which sells gently worn, pre-loved items.

The two local lasses, Vasti Mc Leod and Tania Daniel, both with a passion for thrift shopping and everything vintage, will be hosting their ninth Never New Fashion Fair on August 3 at 124A Fairway in Durban North from 09:00 to 14:00.

“We believe that thrifting and shopping at fashion fairs like Never New is the future of fashion. Not only are you getting a small return on what you paid for the item but you are also being environmentally conscious. By thrifting, you are reducing your carbon footprint. There are gorgeous items on sale at each fair which are close to new, so why buy brand new?” asked McLeod.

Daniel echoed her sentiments, stating that the fair is a place where women can come and sell their gently worn fashion items – clothes, shoes, accessories and bags – and those in the mood for a wardrobe revamp can come and shop up a storm without breaking the bank.

“We have gone back to our roots on this one and selected our 25 top sellers from the last eight fairs to come and sell their lightly worn clothing. There is a good mix of sizes and styles – lots of options for everyone,” she said.

The Old Tin Can will be there with some bubbly, the guys from Firehouse Pizza will be keep us going with their delicious pizzas, and LIV Village will do the coffee. There will also be live music, so patrons are encouraged to make an outing of it and come and enjoy the day.

“We are looking forward to connecting with our Never New Fashion Fair community. The day brings with it a buzz of excitement, and we love being a part of that,” said McLeod.

Entry is R40 a person. Zapper, cash and cards can all be used.
