Copper thief nabbed in Red Hill

The suspect was found in possession of copper pipes, brass taps and burglary implements.

A COPPER cable thief was arrested following an incident in Red Hill this morning.

A Marshall Security customer alerted the Emergency Dispatch Centre saying that the suspect was actively stealing copper pipes from her property.

When armed response officers arrived at the premises, they immediately arrested the man.

“The suspect was found in possession of approximately 10m of copper pipes and brass taps, alongside implements used for the theft. The timely intervention of Marshall Security not only prevented further loss but also led to the recovery of the stolen items. The suspect is also known and has been apprehended previously by our team,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

The suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation.
