uMhlanga’s Skabenga celebrates his 18th birthday

UMHLANGA’S celebrity cat, Skabenga, celebrated his 18th birthday recently.
The tabby cat has been a permanent resident at The Oyster Box for several years after wandering onto the property as a stray.
A two-day party was held in his honour at the world-famous hotel, and instead of gifts, guests were asked for dog or cat food that would be donated to animals in need.
This year’s party was held under the theme of ’Under The Sea’.

There were a number of activities over the two days of festivities, including crafts and face painting and even a message from Breathe Conservation on how to protect our oceans.
Skabenga loves regular treats of catnip, has a favourite couch and chair and has chosen spots around the hotel that he retreats to when not taking ‘inspection’ strolls around the property.
“Skabenga remains a favourite with all our guests, and he continues to receive piles of fan mail,” The Oyster Box said in a statement.
There is even a book about him, and he has his own Facebook page.
