Durban North mosque hosts open day
The idea behind the open day is to welcome individuals of various backgrounds to learn more about Islam and forge stronger connections between different religious communities.
A DURBAN North mosque will open its doors on Heritage Day, Sunday, September 24, as part of the National Mosque Open Day.

Musjid ur Rahmaan, situated on Kenneth Kaunda Road (Northway) in Durban North, will open its doors from 09:30 until 14:30.
Mosque trustee Yusuf Desai said the day is about making people of all faiths feel welcome visiting mosques.
“The theme for us is about finding inner peace. On the day, there will be a guided mosque tour, free henna art, free glucose testing, free blood pressure testing and a headscarf demo. We will also have some coffee and food to offer on the day. This is also an opportunity to build bridges and community relationships and renew the concept of an inclusive, tolerant, multicultural and multi-faith rainbow nation. Everyone is welcome. Although this is an open day, we want the community to know the doors of our mosque are always open. If you aren’t able to make it on the day, there is always an opportunity to tour and learn more about Islam,” he said.
