Friday, August 18

ESTILO ESPAÑA is a visual and auditory feast showcasing flamenco instrumentals and dancing. This captivating production pays tribute to the flamenco guitar’s rich history and influence in music and dance and takes place at the Rhumbelow Theatre. Tickets cost R160. Count Filip Korrmuth and students will present An Evening of Classical Music, a piano recital for music lovers. The show will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 79 Old Main Road, Kloof, at 19:00. Ct Kormuth will perform a variety of pieces by classical masters, South American composers and his own compositions. Tickets at the door will cost R60. Refreshments will be served at interval. Saturday, August 19

The North Durban Honorary Officers will host their next open morning at the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve. Gates open from 08:00 until 13:00 and entrance is free. There are several guided walks that will take place and a Bird Walk at 08:15. Bookings for the Bird Walk can be made on the Facebook page: Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve.

The next Clean Blue Lagoon initiative takes place at the Beachwood Mangroves beach from 08:00 to 11:00.

The South African National Society has invited interested persons to the Ken Gillings Memorial Lecture which will take place at 09:30 for 10:00 at St Cyprian’s Church Hall, 603 Umbilo Road, Durban. The guest speaker is Robin Smith who will present an illustrated talk on ‘Queen Victoria’s Successors. From the crisis in 1817 to the present day’. Entrance fee for members of SANS, SAMHS and the Gunners is R30 and R50 for visitors. Refreshments will be served after the presentation. Booking is essential for catering purposes. Sunday, August 20

Distinguished Gentlemen & Ladies Fun Ride and Vintage Bike Display, hosted by Classic Steel & Vintage Bicycles, takes place at Pirates Lifesaving Club from 07:00. All cyclists are welcome. Prizes will be given for the best outfit and couple.
