SAPS seek public assistance in uMhlanga rape case
The victim was raped before being robbed of her belongings.
DURBAN North police are appealing to the community for assistance in solving a case of rape they are investigating.
According to KZN SAPS provincial spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, the rape case occurred in February on the Millennium Bridge.
“Reports indicate that a 30-year-old woman was raped and robbed on February 18. The woman was reportedly walking on Millennium Bridge when she was approached by two unknown suspects who allegedly threatened her with a knife. One of the suspects is reported to have fled the scene with her belongings while the other one raped her.
“Durban North detectives are appealing to members of the community for assistance in locating the man depicted on the identikit. The detectives believe he can be of assistance in solving the case,” Ngcobo said.
Police are appealing to anyone with information who can be of assistance in the investigation to contact Detective Warrant Officer Cele on 083 300 1371 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
Ngcobo added that valuable information could also be communicated via the MySAPS App.
