Theft suspect arrested in Sea Cow Lake

Metal sheeting was stolen from a premises in Sea Cow Lake on Monday evening.

ONE suspect was arrested in Sea Cow Lake while another escaped following a theft that took place on Sea Cow Lake Road on Monday evening.

“The incident was brought to our attention by a vigilant member of the public who noticed the theft taking place,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

While armed response officers were on their way to the location, a vigilant member of the public prevented the suspects from escaping until officers arrived.

“As soon as the suspects noticed our team members, they fled on foot. One suspect was swiftly apprehended, while the second managed to evade arrest by escaping into a nearby dense bush,” said Powell.

The suspects had stolen metal sheeting from a premises on Ebonyfield Avenue. The owner was informed, arrived on the scene, and pressed charges against the suspect.

The Greenwood Park SAPS transported the suspect to the police station for further processing.
