Suspect with prior record arrested in Durban North for theft

The suspect was handed over to the Durban North police.

A SUSPECT, who had been released from prison last year for a malicious damage to property case, has been rearrested, this time for being in possession of suspected stolen items and trespassing.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday evening by members of Marshall Security on Balgownie Crescent.

According to the security company’s spokesperson, Tyron Powell, they were alerted to a trespassing incident that occurred on St Andrew’s Drive.

“Our officers were dispatched, as well as members of our Special Operations Team. Our teams were actively patrolling the area in search of the suspect, and at approximately 18:00, together with assistance from the local community, the suspect was eventually apprehended by our team members at a property on Balgownie Crescent.

“Once searched, our officers found two extension cords, dog food and copper cables in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was handed over to Durban North SAPS,” he said.

Powell added the suspect had been arrested numerous times and had been released from prison last year after serving his full nine-month sentence for Malicious Damage to Property for a case in the area.
