Suspect shot in La Lucia break-in

Durban North police recovered a firearm on scene that belonged to one of the suspects.

KZN POLICE have confirmed that they are investigating a case of housebreaking after a shooting incident on Addison Drive in La Lucia on Saturday afternoon.

It is believed the incident occurred at the home of businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize (Mam’Mkhize).

KZN provincial spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the shooting incident, saying three suspects had allegedly gained access to the home.

“The owner of the house reportedly found the suspects inside their house, and one of the suspects allegedly cocked a gun, and the owner retaliated. One suspect was injured, and the other two reportedly escaped unharmed,” he said.

Police also found a firearm where one suspect had allegedly hid before fleeing the scene.

No arrests have yet been made, however, a case of housebreaking has been opened at the Durban North police station.
