Two Tongue Twisters to tackle if you dare

A tongue twister is tricky to articulate because of the similar-sounding letters.

TEST your tongue and tease your brain with a tongue twister today to commemorate World Tongue Twister Day.

If you managed to read that right on the first try, then you’re halfway there!

World Tongue Twister Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday in November.

The first tongue twisters were said to have been written in the 19th Century and included in a book published by John Harris who published several books for children.

A tongue twister is a phrase that is difficult to articulate because of the string of similar-sounding consonants strung together which the speaker might struggle to say succinctly. (See what we did there?)

Today, there are many tongue twisters enjoyed around the world, including:

  • How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
  • Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked.
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
