Alleged drug dealer arrested on North Coast Road

The suspect was arrested at a taxi rank by members of the drug unit. A woman was also arrested in Inanda for possession of drugs and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

AN intelligence-driven operation by the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit led to the arrest of an alleged drug dealer on Tuesday afternoon on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road).

According to KZN police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, the suspect was found in possession of cocaine and Mandrax to the value of R11 800.

“Police received information about a male that was selling drugs at a taxi rank on North Coast Road, an observation was conducted and the suspect matching the description was spotted.

“He was approached, police requested to search him and they found rock cocaine and Mandrax tablets worth R11 800. The 25-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Greenwood SAPS,” she said.

Ngcobo added, the suspect is due to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.

In a second arrest on the same day, police arrested a woman in her home in Amatikwe in Inanda.

“The house was searched, and police recovered 56 Xanax tablets, 29 Mandrax tablets, 50 pieces of rock cocaine worth R21 000 and a pistol and 10 rounds of ammunition. A 49-year-old female was arrested for dealing in drugs and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. She was detained at Inanda SAPS and will appear at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court,” she said.
