Durban North SAPS appeal for help in missing persons case

DURBAN North police have appealed to the community to help locate Bongumusa Dlamini, who was reported missing in September this year.

The 23-year-old was allegedly visiting friends in uMhlanga and was last seen walking on Park Avenue.

Captain Raymond Deokaran, spokesperson for the Durban North SAPS, said Dlamini is a former Northwood School learner.

“According to his mother, Bongumusa’s neighbour raised the alarm after he left his home in Mandeni and never returned after a day or two. Her fear that something had gone wrong was confirmed when R500 was withdrawn from his bank account at an ATM in Gateway. His mother said Bongumusa was allegedly visiting friends in uMhlanga, so she began searching for him in the same area before going to work every day.

“She asked his friends who said they had not seen him in months, and she also asked security guards in the area to be on the lookout for him. One of the guards told her he thought her son was dead, but at this point in our investigations, this has not been confirmed. We are appealing to the public at large to contact the investigating officer with any information they might have as his family is distraught over his disappearance,” he said.

Deokaran urged members of the public to contact Detective Mundhree at 079 696 3657 with any information on Bongumusa’s whereabouts.
