Woman mugged by armed men in Avoca

The suspects fled the scene in a white VW Polo.

A WOMAN was robbed by a gang of armed men at the corner of Radiyat Place and Shifa Road in Avoca on Saturday afternoon.

According to Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall, the suspects attempted to push the victim into their vehicle in the robbery just after 17:00.

“When our officers arrived on scene, the victim stated that three armed suspects approached her and her friend in a white Polo (registration unknown). The suspects robbed her of her cellphone.

“One of the suspects, wearing black clothing, then tried to push one of the victims inside the vehicle, but he was unable to. They fled the scene, and no arrests have yet been made,” he said.

This is the second incident where the robbery suspects have attempted to push the victim into their vehicle.

Last week, a woman was assaulted as she fought off her armed assailants in an incident on Rosary Road in the Greenwood Park area.
