A GROUP of armed men stormed an Avoca Road home on Sunday evening, assaulting one of the residents in the incident.
According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the incident occurred just after 19:00.
“The family were ambushed by six suspects armed with guns. They roughed up some of the residents and also shoved one of the residents to the ground. She sustained minor injuries to her hand in the process.
“The suspects made off with a number of household items, including a TV, laptop and cellphones. The suspects then fled the scene in a white vehicle with an unknown registration. The injured resident declined medical attention,” Powell said.

He added that the family were extremely traumatised by the incident.
Sanveer Sooklall, spokesperson for Swift Private Security, who also responded to this incident, said the family were extremely traumatised by the incident.
A day earlier, the security company responded to an attempted home invasion on Popatlall Place, also in Avoca.
“The incident occurred at about 06:40. Upon arrival at the scene, it was established that four armed suspects arrived in a white Toyota Corolla Quest with an NUR registration. The suspects broke the lock at the resident’s property but did not gain entry as they were disturbed. They immediately fled the scene towards Effingham Road,” he said.
Sooklall said the residents were at home when the suspects attempted to gain entry.
