Driver of bullet-hole-ridden car did not want treatment, says Cornubia Mall

Centre management confirms that the incident did not happen at the centre, and no one was injured.

MANAGEMENT of Cornubia Mall has released a statement following the incident that occurred in the vicinity of the property yesterday afternoon.

Marshall Security reported that the driver of a vehicle ridden with bullet holes had parked his car in the mall’s parking lot and left with what appeared to be an e-hailing service.

SAPS was on scene yesterday but are yet to release a statement.

Lara Gracie, General manager for Excellerate Real Estate Services, said Cornubia Mall was aware of the incident.

“An unknown individual entered Cornubia Mall, displaying injuries and damages to his vehicle. Centre management immediately contacted SAPS and the ambulance services,” said Gracie.

The individual, however, did not wait for SAPS or the ambulance services to arrive.

“The individual elected to seek medical attention independently and left the centre,” she said.

Gracie added that SAPS had been on site to investigate the matter, and the vehicle will be impounded for further investigation.

“Mall security attended to the scene on immediate arrival of the vehicle. Centre management confirms that the incident did not happen at the centre, and no one was injured. The security of our patrons, tenants and staff remains our primary concern,” she said.
