One dead, seven injured in M4 accident

One person also sustained serious head injuries in the accident.

A PEDESTRIAN has been killed while attempting to cross the M4 Ruth First Highway, near Blue Lagoon, on Wednesday evening.

According to Kyle van Reenen, spokesperson for Emer-G-Med paramedics, seven people were also injured in the accident, one seriously so.

“Emergency personnel found the vehicle had overturned and was occupying the width of the road in the northbound lane. It is believed the man attempted to cross the highway when he was struck by the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

“One of the seven people in the vehicle suffered a serious head injury. Advanced Life Support paramedics worked fervently to stabilise the injured before they were transported to nearby local hospitals,” van Reenen said.

He added the pedestrian was declared dead upon the arrival of the paramedics.
