Taxi rolls in N2 accident near Umgeni Road interchange

It is unclear what caused the accident, but traffic has been severely affected on the N2.

MULTIPLE people have been injured in a serious taxi accident on the N2 (northbound) near the Umgeni Road interchange.

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson of ALS Paramedics, said various emergency personnel responded to the scene after passengers of the taxi were ejected from the vehicle.

“The accident occurred just before 17:00. It is believed the taxi somehow lost control and rolled numerous times, coming to rest on its roof. Some of the passengers were ejected from the taxi as it was rolling. Multiple people had sustained various injuries and were stabilized on scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals,” he said.

Jamieson added the events leading up to the crash are unknown, and SAPS would be investigating further.
