TODAY is World Hand Hygiene Day, as declared by the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to WHO, every year, hundreds of millions of patients around the world are affected by health care-associated infections.
More than half of these infections could be prevented by caregivers properly cleaning their hands at key moments in patient care.
“This year’s theme for World Hand Hygiene Day is focused on recognising that we can add to a facility’s climate or culture of safety and quality by cleaning our hands. A strong quality and safety culture will encourage people to clean their hands at the right times and with the right products,” the organisation said on its website.
