Crisp white on the outside and exploding with colour and texture inside, Umhlanga’s newest, hottest wining and dining destination is built on the site of one of Durban’s legendary dining spots, Ile Maurice. Danté owners Trent Varejes and brothers Andile and Ayanda Ngidi, have completely re-imagined the building to suit its new role as a multi-purpose venue. Spanning three exciting levels Danté boasts several, individually decorated spaces, each with its own character and focus – from the Main Restaurant and Bar, to the Gin Garden, Cigar Bar, Signature Bar and Oyster & Champagne Bar; the airy Rooftop Bar (with a roof that closes for inclement weather), has hypnotic 180 degree views of the Indian Ocean.

Christina Martin-trained Head Chef Kyle Govender and his Team, bring to life the contemporary Mediterranean / Italian Bistro menu, with a South African twist, designed by Chef Marco Nico, so expect to see an abundance of local ingredients, sustainably sourced meat and fish and the best of international… only when absolutely necessary.

Danté is open daily from 12 noon for brunch, lunch and dinner; as well as for special events and private functions.
