Hijacked Avoca vehicle recovered

A VEHICLE was recovered shortly after a hijacking incident in Avoca on Friday.

According to Marshall Security’s spokesperson, Tyron Powell, four armed men robbed and hijacked an Avoca resident in Tasneem Crescent on Friday.

“Members from our special operations team and armed response officers were dispatched to the scene at about 11:10,” he said.

“The suspects pulled up behind a motorist in a Cherry Tiggo after they parked in the driveway. The suspects produced firearms, demanding cash and cellphones, before proceeding to steal the Cherry Tiggo,” he said.

They then fired shots and fled the scene.

“Our members set off on a manhunt for the suspects, along with the SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes Unit. An hour-and-a-half later, just after 12:30, the stolen vehicle was found abandoned in Lindelani,” said Powell.

The suspects could not be found and the scene was handed over to SAPS for investigation.
