Tanker crashes, causes N2 closure near Queen Nandi Drive

One driver was critically injured, while the drivers in the other two vehicles were unharmed.

ONE person was seriously injured in an accident involving a petrol tanker, a bakkie and motorcycle near Queen Nandi Drive just after midnight on Tuesday.

According to Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics Medical Services, the tanker overturned and crossed the median.

“The tanker collided with a bakkie and a motorcycle,” said Jamieson.

“The motorbike driver, a male in his late 20s, sustained critical injuries and was stabilised by advanced life support paramedics before he was taken to hospital,” he said. 

The truck driver and driver of the bakkie were uninjured.

The recovery process began at 06:00 and both the north and south bound carriageways of the N2 have been closed. 

“Motorists are asked to avoid this area at all costs,” said Jamieson.
