Car theft suspects attempt to bribe officer eMdloti

The suspects were spotted in a green Toyota Yaris.

THREE suspects who attempted to bribe Marshall Security officer were arrested in eMdloti on Wednesday evening.

According to the security company’s spokesperson, Tyron Powell, the suspects’ vehicle was flagged after a registration check just before 18:00 on North Beach Road.

“Investigations established that the vehicle had been stolen in April this year from the Berea area,” explained Powell.

Security officers then detained the suspects while waiting for the SAPS to arrive.

“The occupants of the vehicle attempted to bribe our officers to let them go. Investigations by Metro Police Durban North SAPS found that the VIN and engine numbers of the vehicle had been tampered with and were not corresponding,” he said.

The suspects were taken to the Durban North Police Station.
