Mount Edgecombe Estate promotes e-waste recycling

The estate have partnered with RecycleX, an e-waste recycling company that disposes of any appliances or equipment that uses power or batteries to be operated.

MOUNT Edgecombe Country Club Estate (MECCE) has encouraged its residents to dispose of their electronic waste, known as e-waste, responsibly.

They have partnered with RecycleX, an e-waste recycling company that disposes of any appliances or equipment that uses power or batteries to be operated.

This does not just include all household appliances, but batteries, cables, computers and printers as well said Desiree Stone, CEO of MECCE.

“Recycling and reusing are crucial to preserve our environment and the estate has had a longstanding history of already providing facilities for residents to recycle paper, plastic and glass. However, when we were approached by RecycleX with the opportunity to recycle e-waste, we immediately saw this as the next important step in recycling.

“We were thrilled about how this first ever e-waste recycling initiative was so well supported by our residents over a two-day period, with various appliances and electronic equipment being dropped off so they could be disposed of responsibly. The company also collected larger items directly from residents’ homes, such as fridges, freezers and washing machines,” she said.

After the success of the first e-waste collection initiative, the estate has confirmed that regular disposal days will be scheduled going forward for the estate and residents to make use of in their efforts to save the planet and improve sustainability of the environment.
