City reopens select central beaches
According to the City, three beaches are now safe for swimming and all other sporting activities.
THE eThekwini Municipality announced that some beaches are now safe for swimming and other sporting activities.
This is after the City closed several beaches to the public on September 23.

According to the city’s spokesman, Msawakhe Mayisela, the levels of E-coli at Addington, South and the uShaka beaches have improved tremendously. As a result, these beaches are now safe for swimming and all other sporting activities.
“North, Bay of Plenty and Blue Lagoon beaches remain closed, and teams continue to work tirelessly to have these reopened soon. Beaches north of uMngeni River, that were affected by the UPL chemical spillage, are still closed,” said Mayisela.
The City apologised for the inconvenience caused by the closure of beaches.
