Learner remains in ICU following North Coast Road accident

The learner had to be airlifted to hospital following the collision.

A 15-YEAR-OLD school girl remains in the Intensive Care Unit following a collision involving a mini-bus taxi on the corners of Park Station Road and Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road). 

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, the incident occurred at 08.00 on Wednesday, September 15,  and the learner had to be airlifted to hospital.

“Reports indicate that a 15-year-old female had been struck by a mini-bus taxi. The patient was assessed on scene and found to have sustained serious traumatic injuries. She was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner.

“Once stabilised she was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a specialist facility for the urgent care she required. I can confirm she is now in a stable condition but is currently in the ICU following the incident,” he said.

Herbst added Greenwood Park SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
