eThekwini health facilities open for emergencies, chronic medication

She added that the community vaccination sites will remain closed, however, residents who are eligible to receive the vaccine are encouraged to register.

THE eThekwini Municipality healthcare facilities opened today, July 16 for emergencies and to administer chronic medication.

Head of eThekwini Municipality’s Communications Unit, Lindiwe Khuzwayo, said the clinics will be operating with limited services offered due to staff shortages.

“Healthcare facilities have also been affected by the public unrest with staff members unable to get to work while other facilities are in areas considered high risk,” said Khuzwayo.

She added that the community vaccination sites will remain closed, however, residents who are eligible to receive the vaccine are encouraged to register.

“The municipality will continue to assess the situation during the day and advise the public accordingly,” she said.
