Cellphone snatcher nabbed in Durban North

"It was established that the occupants of the vehicle were in fact attempting to flee from a well-known restaurant in the Durban North area after snatching a phone from one of their patrons," - Tyron Powell.

SECURITY officers, who attended the scene of motor vehicle accident at the corner of Makeurton Avenue and Hinton Place in Durban North on Wednesday, ended up apprehending an alleged cellphone thief too. 
 
 
“We received a call for assistance from a member of the public who noticed the vehicle crash at the corners of Makeurton Avenue and Hinton Place, Durban North. Armed reaction officers were immediately dispatched as well as authorities who arrived on scene shortly thereafter. There were no injuries reported on scene,” said Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell.
 
“After much investigation at the scene, it was established that the occupants of the vehicle were in fact attempting to flee from a well-known restaurant in the Durban North area after snatching a phone from one of their patrons,” he added.
 
According to Powell, the stolen phone and wallet was found in possession of the suspect.
 
One suspect was arrested by the Durban North SAPS who will investigate further.
 
The suspect was charged with common robbery and reckless and negligent driving.
 
The other suspect fled the scene, managing to evade arrest.
