No injuries as plane take off difficulties at Virginia Airport

The airport has been temporarily closed following the accident.

VIRGINIA Airport was temporarily closed on Wednesday after a plane experienced take off difficulties.

Rescue personnel from Netcare 911 and Emer-G-Med Paramedics were in attendance.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst no injuries were reported.

“Reports indicate that the pilot of a Piper Malibu Mirage aborted take-off after experiencing difficulties. The aircraft was safely brought to a standstill just passed the runway threshold, sustaining damage to the front landing gear as it dug into the ground. Fortunately no injuries were reported. The airport had to be closed temporarily,” he said.

Andreas Mathios was also on scene and captured the aftermath of the accident.
