The armed robbery occurred at about 8pm as the pedestrian was walking home.

“We were patrolling on Effingham Road when the woman, obviously in distress, stopped our vehicle seeking assistance. She stated that she had been robbed at gunpoint by two suspects wearing black clothing. We then patrolled the area in search of the suspects but we were unable to find them. The last direction they were seen was heading up Deepdale Avenue,” he said.

Sooklall urged pedestrians to avoid, where possible, walking alone and to try and walk in groups.

“We urge pedestrians to be vigilant of their surroundings and avoid walking home alone late at night. This is the first armed mugging in a month and while this may have been an opportunistic crime, we are urging pedestrians and workers in the area, to walk, where possible in groups,” he said.
