Department releases dates for matric exam rewrites

THE Department of Education has announced candidates have a second chance to rewrite their matric examinations.

With the 2021 academic set to get underway, the DBE invites candidates to register for the May/June Senior Certificate (SC) National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations that there are scheduled to commence on 5 May 2021.

“This examination grants candidates who registered for the November 2020 examination, but may not have satisfied the requirements for a certificate, a second opportunity to do so,” said DOB in a statement.

“In addition, these examinations are open to candidates who could not sit or finish the examination due to various reasons, including medical reasons, a death in the family, or some other special reason.”

The May/June Examinations form part of the department’s Second Chance Matric Support Programme.

Candidates will also be offered an opportunity to have their scripts remarked or rechecked.

Application forms for re-marking or re-checking of examination answer scripts will be available from schools or examination centers.

DBE has promised to have tighter restrictions after it was rocked last year with a number of matric papers being leaked.

Matric results for 2020 are expected to be released on  23 February 2021.

Registration for the supplementary examinations will commence and candidates can register for these examinations online through https://www.eservices.gov.za/ or at their nearest Education District Office.
