Suspect arrested for Redhill housebreaking

There have been 20 housebreakings recorded during the festive period.

ONE suspect was arrested after a housebreaking on Blackburn Road on Thursday (7 January). 

Tyron Powell of Marshall Security said the house was broken into via the window. 

“The suspect had forced a burglar bar and removed a glass pane before gaining access into the house,” he said

Powell said their Emergency Dispatch Centre received a panic alert from the Blackburn Road resident at approximately 9.10am.

“Our armed response officer was immediately dispatched to the property. While en route, our officer was flagged down by the homeowner’s son. He pointed out the suspect who had broken into his property walking in the opposite direction. Our officer immediately apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Greenwood Park SAPS for further processing,” he added.

This adds to a host of housebreakings and attempted housebreakings recorded recently.

According to Marshall Security’s crime statistics there have been 20 housebreakings recorded during the festive period from 23 December until 5 January.

Of those, 16 occurred in the north Durban area including eMdloti, uMhlanga, Durban North, Greenwood Park, Avoca and Glenashley. 

The Greenwood Park SAPS did not send their comment regarding the Blackburn Road housebreaking at the time this article was published.
