Man shot outside bank at The Crescent

The victim was transported to an uMhlanga hospital following the shooting.

A MAN was shot during an alleged robbery in the parking lot of The Crescent Shopping Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police sources, the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, was transported to an uMhlanga hospital. It is alleged the victim was confronted as he attempted to leave one of the banks at the centre.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson, Prem Balram, said his team received multiple calls from shoppers reporting shots being fired.

“Details surrounding the shooting are unclear at this stage however according to witnesses a man was accosted by robbers outside one of the banks at the centre. Several shots were fired before the robbers sped off in a white Audi A3 sedan. One of the bullets also struck a bakkie nearby,” Balram said.

Police are yet to disclose the details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.

There was no comment from The Crescent at the time this story was published.
