Man injured in La Lucia stabbing incident

The victim suffered a single stab wound to his upper back in the incident.

A MAN was seriously injured in a stabbing incident near the La Lucia taxi rank on Friday evening.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said the incident occurred at about 6.30pm.

“A Netcare 911 paramedic happened to be in the area when a man stumbled into a service station on Armstrong Avenue with a deep stab wound to his upper back. It is alleged the man was involved in a fight that broke out near the taxi rank when he was stabbed in the back. He was transported to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in a serious condition,” he said.

Durban North SAPS are investigating the case which is allegedly the second stabbing in the same area in recent weeks.

At the beginning of the month, Durban North SAPS arrested and charged a man for attempted murder after a stabbing incident in the same vicinity.

In that instance, the victim survived several stab wounds and was transported to Addington Hospital.
