Feeding the Furballs need your help

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the organisation like many others have been put under strain when it comes to fundraising initiatives.

REDHILL resident, Farrah Khan Maharajh, has appealed to the north Durban community for help to continue feeding more than 600 animals her NPO cares for.

Her NPO, Feeding the Furballs, helps rescue animals and rescue organisations with food and supplies and has been actively helping residents around Durban during the nationwide lockdown.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the organisation like many others have been put under strain when it comes to fundraising initiatives.

“For the month of April alone, we had eight events planned, all of which had to cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Some of our donors have also been affected by job lay-offs and financial instability thus leading us to suffer financially. During level 5 and 4 of the nationwide lockdown we were one of the few organisations still actively rescuing and feeding animals in and around the province. We’ve also taken on extra colonies during this period due to an increase in dumping of pets in various areas including, Clairwood, Jacobs, Durban North and Underberg.

“With the financial instability that we are facing we have had to find alternative ways of fundraising which is proving to be difficult. Most of our funding is dependent on fundraising and the pandemic has put us in jeopardy of not being able to feed the animals that rely on us. At this point any form of donation will be appreciated. A little goes a long way,” she said.
