AFTER being on the run for 20 months, two suspects have been arrested for their involvement in the break-in of a jewellery store at Gateway Theatre of Shopping in 2013.

Mohamed Billal Sheik and Zahida Rahaman, who have been on the run since November 2018, were arrested on Monday in East London for their part in the burglary of Cherry Design Jewellery in uMhlanga.

“We’ve been working this case closely with Detective Vicky Moodley of the Durban North SAPS and we are really happy that both of the suspects have been taken into custody. They are now facing 15 years so justice will be done and they will pay for their crimes. I’d like to thank the SAPS who responded to information supplied to them, they did a great job working together,” Pierce said.

Captain Nqobile Gwala, provincial SAPS spokesperson, confirmed the two suspects who were wanted for robbery were arrested this morning in East London.

“A trap was set and a routine roadblock was held. The suspects were apprehended at the roadblock and the warrant was executed. They will appear in court soon,” she said.
