Sustainable exhibition looms

Don't miss out on this year's Sustainable Living Exhibition, which promises to be action-packed.

THE Durban Exhibition Centre will be transformed into a platform of innovative ideas, greening techniques, and money saving solutions as exhibitors showcase their various sustainable living products at the Sustainable Living Exhibition on the weekend of Arbour Week, 6 to 8 September.

The eThekwini Municipality’s Imagine Durban takes pride in hosting the Sustainable Living Exhibition year after year to provide the opportunity to learn how to better take care of themselves, the people around them and the space around everyone.

The focus of this year’s exhibition is on water conservation. Being an intelligent species, it is only fair that humans are responsible for the environment in which they live.

With more than 200 exhibitors registered and the appeal of free entrance, the three-day event promises to perk interests.

The exhibition will ooze creativity and wonder as it challenges normal people into seeing the hidden benefits that can be found in the environment.

Go and see a fashion show made out of recyclable materials, watch captivating environmental movie screenings or get great gardening tips and ideas. Learn how to harvest rain and save water, or learn how to use renewable energy and have a more energy efficient household.

The young ones will also have a ball of a time as there will be tons of learning activities and demonstrations for children of all ages, such as scientastic shows and workshops and a planetarium aimed to inspire the young minds of today.

There will be a wellness clinic and opportunities for free counselling available and attendees can also opt to save a life by making a blood deposit at the blood bank.

Some of the things on sale will be fresh organic vegetables, energy saving devices, jewellery, art work, upscaled clothes and bags, indigenous plants and more.

People are encouraged to take donations of clothes, books and toys that will go towards a worthy charity.

Schools are welcome to take pupils to tour the exhibition and take advantage of the festivities and learning opportunities available.

For school enquiries, contact Hyacinthia Naidoo on 031 3114272 or 083 660 5422.

The Sustainable Living Exhibition will be a guaranteed fun-filled, educational weekend for all the event goers which will help spread the awareness of healthy sustainable living.
