Covid-19 screening rolls out in Durban North, uMhlanga and eMdloti
Approximately 40 houses in the vicinity of Glenmore Crescent are scheduled to be screened in Durban North as well as 40 houses in the vicinity of central uMhlanga.
AS the Department of Health rolls out its screening campaign to address the Covid-19 outbreak, screening is scheduled to begin on Thursday in selected areas of ward 35 and 36, which have been identified as hotspots. Approximately 40 houses in the vicinity of Glenmore Crescent are scheduled to be screened in Durban North as well as 40 houses in the vicinity of central uMhlanga.
In a joint statement, councillor Nicole Bollman (ward 35) and acting councillor, Shontel de Boer (ward 36) said they are working to ensure the programme is rolled out successfully and where necessary.
“Please be informed that according to the schedule only hotspot areas and surrounding areas will be screened and testing will only be done if you are symptomatic. If your area is not listed it means yours is not considered a hotspot area and the teams will not be coming to your area,” read the statement.

De Boer encouraged the community to comply with the process to prevent complications.
“The teams will comprise of a professional nurse, an environmental health practitioner, a community health facilitator and possibly a SAPS member. The teams will be using a NDM registration vehicle and will have either council or provincial identification with them which you can ask them to show you,” said de Boer.

According to the eMdloti Comunity Policing Forum, field workers began door-to-door visits on Wednesday to identify people who may require testing.
“Interviews and testing will be conducted outside your home and there should be no reason for the field worker to request entry to your home. Please co-operate with the team, as they have a complicated task ahead of them and remember to answer all of the questions honestly,” said the CPF.
