Two killed in N2 crash

Some of the occupants of the vehicle were ejected and sustained serious injuries in the accident.

TWO people were killed and three others injured in a single vehicle crash on the N2 South before M125 Kwa Mashu on Sunday evening around 11.30pm.

Rescue Care Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, said paramedics arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle had overturned on the N2.

“The vehicle had five occupants at the time of the crash. Some were ejected and sustained serious injuries. The driver, a male, and one passenger who was still entrapped had sustained fatal injuries and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene. Three other occupants were stabilised on the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals for the further care that they required,” he said.

The events leading up to the crash are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.

In another incident, on Monday morning, a pedestrian suffered minor injuries when she was struck down on Umhlanga Rocks Drive (in the uMhlanga Ridge area).

“Reports from the scene indicate that an adult female sustained minor injuries when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road. The patient was treated on scene and transported by a private ambulance service to hospital for further assessment,” Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst said.
