Two nabbed for separate thefts in North Durban

In one of the incidents, one of the suspects robbed the victim of her cell phone on Prince Umhlangane Road.

TWO suspects were arrested by Blue Security’s tactical team members for two separate crime incidents in the last two days.

According to the company’s tactical ambassador for Durban North, Darrel Moodley, the latest arrest occurred yesterday morning  when an alleged robber was arrested on Prince Umhlangane Road.

The incident occurred after 9am on Monday.

“The suspect, who was armed with a large knife, held up a woman and robbed her of her cell phone, wallet and cash. Our officers managed to apprehend the suspect and recovered the victim’s cellphone. The suspect was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS,” Moodley said.

Moodley said an armed response officer arrested a business burglar who he apprehended on the premises at around 6.21pm on Saturday.

“Our officer arrived at the scene to find the office had been ransacked. Upon further investigation on the premises he found a suspect who was wearing a balaclava, still on the property in the finance department,” Moodley said.

“The suspect was armed with a pair of scissors, which he had used to break open the gate to gain entry. The suspect was in possession of two bags containing an undisclosed sum of cash and a laptop. He was arrested and handed over to the Durban Central SAPS at the scene of the crime,” Moodley said.
