Man loses R15 000 worth of items in uMhlanga theft

DURBAN North SAPS has warned residents of a spike in theft out of motor vehicles. His warning comes after a resident lost R15 000 worth of equipment from his car in uMhlanga.
Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, said there had been five cases alone this week. Of the five incidents reported, only one was a remote jamming case while the rest of the thefts occurred due to forced entry.
“In the incident in uMhlanga, a backpack, a laptop, a hard drive and a camera, all valued at R15 000 was stolen. There have been various cases on roads across our precinct including Ocean Way, Palm Boulevard and Swapo Road. In all five of the cases, a laptop was stolen. Only one of the incidents took place in the early morning and the rest have taken place in the evening between 6pm and 9pm.”

“Items such as laptops, cameras, and phones are what the suspects most often look for. I urge residents to double-check they have locked their cars and not to leave valuables in their cars,” he said.
